How do I remove the bank card from my account?
The way you manage the bank card linked to your Thamaniya subscription depends on the method you used when signing up; some subscriptions are managed directly through Thamaniya, while others are managed through app stores or partners. Therefore, the steps to remove the card vary based on your situation, which we will explain in the following details.
Before you start
- Removing the card, canceling the subscription, and deleting the account are not the same thing.
- Removing the card means deleting the saved payment method from your account or from the store you subscribed through.
- Canceling the subscription means stopping the upcoming renewal, while your subscription remains active until the end of its term.
- Deleting the account means disabling your account and then permanently deleting it according to the privacy policy, but deleting a Thamaniya subscription account does not necessarily delete the payment method from the "Apple Store" or "Google Store," nor does it automatically cancel store subscriptions. If your subscription is from one of the stores, manage the subscription and the card from the store itself.
If your subscription is from the Thamaniya app on the web
If you subscribed from the Thamaniya website, you can remove the card from your account via the following steps:
- Log in to your Thamaniya account.
- Click on "My Account."
- Select "Manage Subscriptions."
- Choose "Payment Method."
- All the cards added to your account will appear.
- Click the delete button next to the card you want to remove.
- Confirm the removal.
⚠️ In certain cases, you may not be able to delete the bank card; for example, if you have an active subscription that relies on it for fee deductions. The purpose of restricting deletion in this case is to ensure the continuity of your subscription and avoid any disruption in renewal operations or payment attempts associated with your account. After canceling the subscription renewal from the site, or after your subscription ends and payment attempts associated with it stop, you will be able to remove the card from your account.
If your subscription is from the Apple Store
If you subscribed through the "Apple Store," payment and card management is from your Apple Store account, not from Thamaniya. This means Thamaniya does not have the authority to delete or modify the card within the store account.
To remove the card from your iPhone or iPad:
- Open "Settings"
- Tap on your name.
- Select "Payment & Shipping."
- Tap "Edit."
- Tap the delete button next to the card.
- Confirm the removal.
⚠️ You may not be able to delete the payment method if you have an active subscription, unpaid balance, or are an organizer of Family Sharing and use purchase sharing. In these cases, check your Apple account settings.
If your subscription is from the Google Store
If you subscribed through the "Google Store," payment and card management is from your Google account, not from Thamaniya.
To remove the card from the Google Store:
- Open the "Google Store."
- Tap on the account picture.
- Select "Payments & Subscriptions."
- Choose "Payment Methods."
- Open "More Payment Settings."
- Select the card you want to delete.
- Tap "Remove," then confirm the removal.
⚠️ Google may ask you to sign in again, and you may not be able to remove the payment method if it is linked to a subscription or an ongoing payment. In this case, update the payment method for the subscription or cancel the subscription from the store first.
If your subscription is activated via a voucher
If your subscription is activated with a voucher, you may not be able to remove the card while the subscription is active. Although the voucher activated the subscription, the subscription remains active within the system and is linked to a saved virtual card. After canceling the subscription or its term ends, you will be able to remove the card if it is no longer linked to an active subscription or ongoing withdrawal attempts.
If your subscription is activated through Saudi Telecom Company billing
If your subscription payment is made through your mobile bill with the Saudi Telecom Company (STC), your subscription does not rely on a registered bank card. Therefore, you do not need to delete the card through the Thamaniya site; you can manage your subscription or cancel it completely and directly by accessing the subscription page in your Thamaniya account.
If your subscription is free through Saudi Telecom Company packages
If your subscription is activated through "stctv" packages or within internet offers from the Saudi Telecom Company (STC), the bank card is not considered the approved payment method. Therefore, managing this subscription remains linked to the service provider package directly; Thamaniya subscription cannot be canceled in this case except by modifying or canceling your package with the Saudi Telecom Company, not through the Thamaniya platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why can't I remove the card sometimes?
The option to remove the card does not appear or the process does not complete for one of the following reasons:
- You have an active subscription from the Thamaniya site that relies on the card.
- The card you are trying to delete is the default card for the subscription.
- There are withdrawal or renewal attempts linked to the subscription.
- The subscription is activated with a voucher and is still active.
- The subscription is from the Apple Store or Google Store, and card management is from the store itself.
- There are mandatory requirements from the store, such as having an active subscription or incomplete payment.
2. Is removing the card the best way to cancel the subscription?
No. Removing the card does not automatically cancel the subscription. If you want to stop the upcoming renewal, cancel the subscription from the subscription page or from the store you subscribed through.
3. Does canceling the subscription delete the card?
Canceling the subscription stops the automatic renewal process, but it does not necessarily delete the card. After canceling the renewal or the subscription ends and withdrawal attempts stop, remove your card.
4. Does deleting the account delete the card?
You can delete your account after canceling the subscription or after it ends; this will result in erasing all data related to it if the subscription is through the Thamaniya site. However, if the subscription is through digital stores, the bank cards will remain registered in the "Apple Store" or "Google Store"; therefore, you must remove the card and complete the account deletion procedures through the store settings themselves. Please note that not doing this step in the stores will result in the subscription continuing and renewing automatically.
5. Why can't I delete the primary card but can delete other cards?
If you have added more than one card to your account, you can remove all cards except the primary card because it may be linked to an active subscription or upcoming renewal. After canceling the renewal or the subscription ends and withdrawal attempts stop, you will be able to remove the primary card.
6. I subscribed from the Apple Store or Google Store, does Thamaniya delete my card?
No. Payment cards in store subscriptions are managed from the "Apple Store" or "Google Store." Delete or modify the card from the payment settings in the store account.
7. I subscribed with a voucher, can I remove the bank card?
Yes, you can delete your card even if you subscribed with a voucher and the subscription is active, and if you face any problems with that, you can contact the "Ask Thamaniya" team.
8. When can I delete the card after canceling the subscription?
If you cancel your subscription renewal from the site, or the subscription term ends and withdrawal attempts stop, you can remove the card from your account.
